First, you have to  remove it from the pump-filter assembly. rinse off the loose dirt from it then allow the cartridge to dry out. Then, tap the cartridge to  completely remove loose particles.

Next, you should soak it in a cartridge cleaner. One day soaking is good, but three to five days would be better. After soaking, rinse thoroughly then allow to dry. That's basically it! You can now reuse your old swimming pool filter cartridge.

Having water chemicals is already one way of reducing algae growth, and scrubbing the walls of the pool occasionally can help lengthen the life span of your swimming pool pump.

Running your swimming pool pump three hours everyday should be good enough. A timer would also be a good investment, which allows the swimming pool pump to run only when it is needed and without human intervention save for setting the timer.

You should also constantly clean your pool filters, as clogged drains means that your swimming pool pump has to work double time, which can affect its performance easily. You will be pleased at the savings that you'll get once you follow the above tips.
